Applying for a new role can be daunting, but this section is here to take you through everything to expect, and to answer the questions you might have.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve adapted our recruitment process to put the safety of our team and candidates first. We are still hiring and looking to bring the brightest minds into GSK, but every stage will be conducted in adherence with government guidelines and social distancing measures.

Before you apply, make sure you research the role and us. As you approach the interview stage, have some specific questions in mind to ask.

Application process

What qualities do you look for in candidates?

You need to have real ambition, a genuine interest in your chosen career path and a self-motivated, proactive approach. You’ll need to be a clear, effective communicator who can work across boundaries and quickly build a rapport with a wide range of people.

Just as important is the ability to adapt to change and stay focused when the pressure is on. While you’ll have the drive and confidence to trust your own judgement, you’ll also be a team player who enjoys working with others. Not least, you’ll need an analytical mind, a talent for multi-tasking and the ability to influence people.

I have a disability/long-term health condition, should I include this on my application form?

GSK welcomes applications from suitable candidates from all backgrounds. We do not require that candidates with disabilities / long-term health conditions disclose this to us. However, we recommend you inform us at the application stage of any required support or reasonable adaptations you need during the recruitment and selection process. Any conversations we have with you about any health conditions will be treated confidentially.

What is our selection process at GSK and how do I prepare?

We have a number of online assessments and interviews which may take place. Depending on the role you have applied for you may be asked to complete one or more of the online assessments below;

Our job simulations (Explore GSK & GSK Insights)

You may be invited to complete one of our Job Simulation assessments. These job simulations are completed online but will offer you an insight into our Values and Expectations. You’ll also get personalised feedback to help you develop your strengths further.

Our language assessments

Again, depending on the role you have applied for you may be invited to complete an online assessment which will help us determine your language proficiency.

Our technical assessment

Some of our roles may have specific technical requirements. In these cases, you may be asked to complete an exercise to determine your coding or technical expertise.

Tips when conducting online assessment:

Be timely – the assessment isn’t timed, so don’t rush. However, remember your invitation to complete the assessment will expire.. Don’t leave it too late!

Check your internet – make sure your internet connection is reliable before starting the assessment.

Take care – read the instructions carefully and complete the assessment in a quiet room with no distractions. We suggest you do so at the time of day you feel most energised.


We are looking for examples of High-Performance Behaviours throughout the application process. Recruiters and managers ask behavioural interview questions to determine whether a candidate is the right fit for a job. Research the STAR method so that you are prepared to fully address the interviewer’s question while also demonstrating how you were successful in overcoming previous challenges. Also, always come with questions and build a relationship with the interviewer.

How do I submit my application?

You apply via the online Job Posting via the ‘apply’ button or From that point, you’ll be able to complete all your details and submit your application.

When will I hear if I’ve been shortlisted or not?

We will try to process your application as quickly as possible. However, please be aware that the response time may vary and will depend on when you submit your application. You can check on the status of your application during any stage in the process, by logging into your Workday application/account.

How can I check the status of my application?

When you submit your application, we’ll let you know by an on-screen message that it has safely arrived. If you give us your email address, you’ll receive a further acknowledgement email when your application arrives in the recruiter’s inbox. In this email, you will receive your log in and account information so that you can return at any time to check the status of your application.

Is there a maximum number of jobs I can apply to?

No. There is no system limitation on the number of active applications you can have in the system.

Is there relocation assistance for candidates who live outside of Bengaluru?

Some relocation funding can be available on a case by case basis for people who will need to move to Bengaluru to work at GSK.

Are there set progression routes?

There are no set career paths defined, to give the employee the chance to carve out their own career within GSK. Careers in GSK are performance-driven, primarily owned by individuals, and can evolve with concerted effort from the employee and their Manager.

2020 taught us a lot about working differently. We’ll continue to work remotely as we fight through the pandemic. However, now that our new site at Bagmane Capital is open, we also offer the option for employees to work safely onsite should they want to.

The Global Capability Centre

Where is the office located?

Our new site is located at Bagmane Capital – Luxor North Tower, Outer Ring Road, Ferns City, Doddanekundi, Mahadevapura, Bengaluru, Karnataka – 560048, India. We’re based around 15km from central Bengaluru.

Is there on-site parking?

Yes, there is on-site parking but please check at interview stage what access to this looks like if this would be you preferred form of transport.

What public transport links serve the office?

There is a Metro stop 3.5km away (Baiyappanahalli), with a shuttle service to complete the journey. An additional Metro stop, Graphite India, will be open as of 2021 and is very near to our new site.

What facilities are there on-site?

Within our new site, there is a huge emphasis on productivity, smart working and wellbeing. We have built a technology-driven site that monitors and responds to performance, and provides modern solutions to support and connect our hybrid workforce. With a fitness centre, swimming pool, sports courts, outdoor gym and relaxation areas, there’s plenty of time to keep healthy. In addition, there’s a large amount of outdoor green spaces to enjoy, outdoor BBQ areas and cafes, a range of food and coffee outlets and outdoor meeting spaces.
